'I wanna be an explorer...'

I'd like to run away, to flee from what I know, from what is mine, from what I love. I want to set off, not for some impossible Indies or for the great islands that lie far to the south of all other lands, but for anywhere, be it village or desert, that has the virtue of not being here. What I want is not to see the faces, this daily round of days. I want a rest from, to be other than, my perpetual pretending. I want to feel the approach of sleep as if it were a promise of life, not rest. A hut by the sea, even a cave on a rugged mountain ledge, would be enough.

Browning - Paracelsus

If I stoop
Into a dark tremendous sea of cloud,
It is but for a time. I press God's lamp
Close to my breast; its splendour, soon or late,
Will pierce the gloom. I shall emerge one day.
You understand me? I have said enough?

Are we not halves of one dissevered world,
Whom this strange chance unites once more? Part? never!
Till thou, the lover, know; and I, the knower,
Love — until both are saved.

comings and goings

this bright flux gives and takes away
but more so to give and add to our joy
we spread ourselves throughout the world
to come back again soon
full with whispered treasures into one another's palms

heavy hard sometimes still that untouchable wealth, locked up out there frozen, that insatiable ore that once so made and destroyed the wide world - a glint, sharp gone, dead land - unmoved.
