"There's a reason why industrial agriculture came about: we need to feed a growing population cheaply and efficiently. There are plenty of good reasons to criticize the consolidation of food production to a small group of corporations - but efficiency is not among those reasons. If we limit our concern to global warming, one wonders if it's really better to have twenty different farmers each deliver broccoli in their own trucks to the farmers market, compared to one veggie-packed truck delivering to multiple grocery stores."
